UniSQ W Block Science Labs
By introducing shared research lab spaces, we enabled academics to interact and share ideas whilst achieving greater space utilisation for the university.
Three underlying principles: optimisation, flexibility and innovation define this project. The architecture and design invite collaboration, cross pollination and integration of ideas, so that science and research ambitions are advanced.
The Science Faculty provides teaching and research in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computing, psychology and nursing grouped into four departments: Biological and Physical Sciences, Mathematics and Computing, Nursing and Midwifery and Psychology. This breadth of interests provides for a stimulating multidisciplinary environment for both students and staff.
Within the context of the precinct master plan, the refurbishment project redefines and optimises the existing spaces. By introducing ‘shared’ research laboratory spaces, we enabled academics to interact and share ideas whilst achieving greater space utilisation for the university. These new amenities facilitate improved scientific results that advance the university and, through research, deliver benefits to the public.
