Cockburn ARC
Cockburn ARC is a first-class sport and recreation facility located in Cockburn Central. The ARC caters for the recreation activities of hundreds of thousands of residents from across Perth's southern metropolitan region.
It is a community recreation centre. A high-end health care. An aquatic centre and water park. An elite football training and administration facility. An education and research centre. A health and rehabilitation facility.
It reads like a long list of separate buildings, but in fact this was a brief for a single complex given to us. While there was only one contractual client - City of Cockburn, there were three other entities involved, including: the Fremantle Dockers (the main partner of City of Cockburn), and also Curtain University.
We created ultimate cross-section blueprint for a hybrid health, fitness, education, community and culture centre for professional, intermediate and beginner users and they can all take advantage of multiple components. Amateurs can mix with the professional AFL players on the highball courts, while University can research everything from aged-fitness and community health, through to the little athletes.
