Taree Waterfront Masterplan
The heritage qualities of the site are redefined by the adaptive reuse of several former maritime and dairy buildings.
Following a national design competition, Greater Taree City Council engaged ARCH to develop a masterplan for a 20 hectare waterfront site to the east of the Taree town centre on the Manning River.
ARCH conducted an extensive contextual gap analysis which underpins the final masterplan that is both sensitive and evocative in nature. Our vision, is to create a distinctive and vital urban redevelopment with an engaging, high quality public domain optimising the impressive waterfront location. The development, titled ‘Figtrees on the Manning’, stimulates revitalisation of the precinct and creates beneficial outcomes for the whole community.
The plan outlines opportunities for a range of development outcomes, defined via five distinct but complementary precincts. These precincts include commercial and retail outlets, residential units, cultural facilities, public domain, growers’ markets and a commercial marina. The proposed marina and ‘boatel’ focus attention on the waterfront and encourage boating and recreational activation of the Manning River.
