Cardinia Cultural Centre

An  iconic design that references a rural heritage

This arts and cultural complex acknowledges both the spirit of place and the historical evolution of its region, reflecting the cultural sophistication of the community by making abstract references to the surrounding state forests and the rural heritage of the region. The civic nature of the building is expressed through its dynamic sculptural form and is filled with natural light. The design takes advantage of spectacular views towards the lake at the centre of the development. Overall the scale is considerate of the adjacent residential surrounds, yet the facility comprises a 350 seat performance theatre, 400 seat function centre, gallery space, visual arts incubator, restaurant and full commercial kitchen.
